How do I make my first affiliate link and tag a campaign?
To make your first affiliate link, open Links in the affiliate portal and choose New link. Pick where the link sends people, add an optional name, and press Create link. LiveRec finishes the code for you. Links unlock once you are approved, have signed the agreement and have finished training.
Steps
- Check Analytics. The setup card lists what is left: Training, Agreement, ID check, Tax form, Payout details and First link. When your first link exists it shows "Your first link is made."
- Open Links and choose New link.
- Under where to send people, choose The LiveRec homepage, A job you are promoting or The affiliate program. For a job, pick the job (or use Jobs, then Get link on a job row).
- Optionally give the link a name. Only you see the name; it helps you tell your links apart.
- Optionally add campaign tags (see below), then press Create link. Copy it from the row, or use the row menu: View analytics, Copy link, Show QR code, Open link in a new tab.
Campaign tags
Campaign tags are optional labels added to the end of a link so your own analytics can tell where a visit came from. The tag fields are Source, Medium, Campaign, plus term and content. For example, a newsletter link might use source "newsletter", medium "email" and a campaign name of your choice.
- Use Save these tags as a preset to reuse a set of tags on later links. There is a maximum number of presets per account.
- You can change the tags later with Edit link. Editing changes where the link sends people or its tags, not its code.
- Tags do not change how a referral is credited: a sign-up is credited to the first link the person clicked within 90 days.
Where clicks show
- The Links table shows Clicks, Signups and Commission for each link, with filters by status. Clicks leave out visits that look automated, such as bots and link previews.
- View analytics on a row shows where the traffic came from by Source, Medium, Campaign and referring site, and recent sign-ups. LiveRec does not store the visitor's device or country for a click.
- The Copy buttons on homepage links follow the Send people to choice above the table: Main page, Candidate page, Employer page or Recruiter page. Job and recruit links keep their own page.
Edge cases
- If Links shows "Links unlock when your training is done", finish training first.
- You can make only a limited number of links in a few minutes, and a maximum per account. The portal tells you when you reach either one. Turn off a link you no longer use to free room.
- Only a link to the LiveRec home page can be your main link. A paused, switched-off or paid link cannot.
- The referred person gets no discount from your link.
