How does AI screening for a job work?

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

AI screening reads one job's candidates and gives each a fit percent, reasons and evidence, best first. By default it only recommends and nothing moves. Letting it advance or decline on its own needs your company's consent, which you can withdraw. Every decision is logged and can be undone in one click.

Where do I find it?

Open Jobs and choose AI screening from a job's actions, or use the AI screening card on the job page. It is available for any job that is not a draft. Changing settings or running it needs permission to configure the AI interviewer; without it you can look only.

What are the three modes?

ModeWhat it does
Recommend only (default)Gives every candidate a fit percent, reasons and evidence, best first. Nothing moves
Rank and shortlistAlso pins your top matches. You still confirm or decline each one, or all at once
Decide for meAlso advances and declines on its own after your company's owner or admin gives consent

You also set how many top matches to pin and a Minimum fit to advance. A candidate within 25 points below it is marked Review; lower is Not a fit.

How do I run it?

  1. Open the job's AI screening page and choose how much the AI should do.
  2. Choose Run screening. It takes about 5 seconds per 10 candidates, and a job can be run up to 6 times an hour.
  3. Review the ranked list. Why this candidate shows the reasons and quoted evidence.
  4. Confirm or decline each one, or use bulk actions. After interviews, Run after interviews adds what happened in them; it still never decides for you.

How is the fit percent worked out?

  • The AI scores each of your criteria from 0 to 100. LiveRec then calculates the fit percent as the weighted average using your weights. The AI never gives the final number.
  • A quote is shown only if the words really appear in what the candidate wrote or said. Without a checked quote a criterion cannot score above 40.
  • A must-have scoring under 50 marks the candidate Missing a must-have.
  • With limited evidence, such as no finished interview, confidence shows as Limited evidence and the AI cannot recommend Not a fit.
  • Names, photos, contact details and demographic fields are not sent to the AI. If its own text mentions a protected characteristic, that sentence is removed and the candidate is Held for a person.

Your criteria and weights come from the AI interviewer's Scoring tab.

  • Deciding needs an owner or admin to give consent, shown on the page as AI decisions are ON.
  • A person must confirm the first 20 decisions on each job before anything is automatic. The AI never declines on limited evidence.
  • Every decision is logged. Undo puts a candidate back where they were.
  • Screened candidates can see that AI took part in reviewing their application.
  • A Fairness monitor shows, for 90 days, who was screened, what the AI and your team advanced or declined, and how often your team undid it.
