Why is my job not live?

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

A job is live only when its status is Open. If it is not, the Jobs page shows one of Draft, Paused, Closed or Expired, or a dialog stops you before you publish: Choose a plan to post jobs, Update your payment method to post jobs, or You're at your live-job limit. Each has a direct fix.

What does each status mean?

Status (tab on Jobs)MeaningHow to fix
OpenLive and taking applicationsNothing to fix
DraftSaved but never publishedOpen the job and finish the steps, then choose Post job
PausedHidden from candidates and not taking applications. It still uses a live-job slotChoose Resume (Resume job) and confirm
ClosedFinal. The job left candidate listsChoose Duplicate to hire for the role again
ExpiredThe job's closing date, shown in the Expires column, has passedChoose Duplicate to hire for the role again

The Expires column on Jobs shows each job's closing date. See Edit, pause or close a job.

Which dialog is blocking me when I publish or resume?

Dialog titleWhy it appearsWhat to choose
Choose a plan to post jobsYour company has no active employer planChoose a plan, which opens the change-plan page
Update your payment method to post jobsThe last renewal payment failedUpdate payment method on the Billing page. See Payment failed
You're at your live-job limitAll the live jobs your plan allows are in useAdd live jobs, upgrade your plan with See plans, or close a job to continue

Open and paused jobs count toward the limit. Drafts and closed jobs do not. The Jobs page shows a line such as "N of M live jobs in use". See How many jobs can I have live at once?.

Paying for extra live jobs or changing the plan needs billing permission. See Who can manage billing?.

My job is Open but candidates cannot find it

  • Use Preview posting from the job's menu to see what candidates see.
  • A job with few matching filters or no applications may need better details or a boost. See Why is my job not getting applications? and Boost a job.
  • If you still cannot tell why, open a ticket from Help & support with the job title and its status.
