Why is my job not getting applications?
If your job is not getting applications, first check its status is Open, not Draft or Paused. Beyond that, the usual causes are a narrow location or pay range, a title people do not search for and a very long requirements list. Change one thing at a time and check Analytics again afterwards.
Steps
- Open Jobs and confirm the job shows under the Open tab, not Draft, Paused or Expired.
- Review title, salary and requirements.
- Open Analytics and read Impressions, Clicks and Applications for the job.
- Consider a boost (Get seen first on the job page) or Live sourcing.
Good to know
- Many impressions with few clicks usually points to the title. Many clicks with few applications usually points to pay, requirements or screening questions.
Read your Analytics first
| What you see | Likely cause | What to change |
|---|---|---|
| Few impressions | Job is not reaching people | Check status is Open, widen location or pay range, use a title people search for |
| Many impressions, few clicks | The title does not attract | Rewrite the title in plain, common words |
| Many clicks, few applications | Pay, requirements or screening questions put people off | Review the pay, shorten requirements, cut non-essential screening questions |
Change one thing at a time and check Analytics again afterward, so you know which change helped.
