What do I do if company verification failed or needs more information?
Company verification has three outcomes: verified, sent to a person for a manual check, or not verified. A manual check asks you to upload a registration document and needs no other action. A failed verification pauses your job postings and cannot be retried by simply submitting again; message our verification team or appeal.
What each result means
- Checking. The registry check is running. You can leave the page; the status updates.
- Pending or Under review. A team member is looking at it. Nothing is asked of you unless the screen says so.
- Needs a manual check. The automatic check could not decide. The screen gives the reason in plain words: more than one possible match, the state registry does not show the company as active, or the registry could not confirm the company name in that state. Choose Upload documents instead.
- Couldn't complete or temporarily unavailable. The check could not run. Nothing was changed and your job posts stay live. Try again shortly, or verify with documents.
- We couldn't verify your company. The check found a clear mismatch. Your postings are paused and the screen lists what you can do.
- Account suspended. Postings are paused. If you believe this is a mistake you can appeal.
Steps
- Open Company profile, then Verify your business, and read the status and reason shown.
- Check the legal company name, the 9-digit EIN (or the D-U-N-S number, if that is the method you used) and the state of registration against your IRS letter or D-U-N-S record. A typo or a trade name in place of the legal name is the usual cause.
- For a manual check, choose Upload documents instead and add one official document showing the business is registered; the accepted types are in the article linked below.
- If the screen offers Re-submit, correct the details and send them again. If it does not, do not look for a retry; use the next step.
- Choose Message our verification team, or Appeal if the account is suspended. Give your company name and what you checked.
Good to know
- Verification checks the business, not people. Screening a candidate is a separate background check.
- Companies registered outside the US can post jobs without the Verified business badge.
- Submitting verification needs the Manage company verification permission, which owners and admins hold by default.
