Verify your business with your EIN and state

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

LiveRec verifies a US company with its Employer Identification Number (EIN) and the state it is registered in. The check confirms the business exists and is in good standing with that state's Secretary of State. Your jobs stay live while we verify. A pass earns the Verified business badge.

Steps

  1. Open Company profile, then choose Verify your business on the Overview tab. The screen is titled Verify your company.
  2. Check the Legal company name shown on the screen. It comes from your company record and cannot be typed here; if it is wrong, get help from LiveRec before you submit.
  3. Enter your Employer Identification Number (EIN), the 9-digit IRS tax ID in the format 12-3456789.
  4. Choose the State of registration, where the company was formed, for example Delaware.
  5. Choose Submit (or Save for later to come back). The status shows Checking while the registry check runs; you can leave the page and we update your status. If a person has to review it, we email you when the review closes.

Good to know

  • Submitting verification needs the Manage company verification permission, which owners and admins hold by default.
  • Company verification checks the business, not people. Screening a candidate is a separate background check.
  • If the automatic check cannot tell for certain, or is unavailable, a team member reviews it and no action is needed from you. Only a clear contradiction from the registry can suspend the company, so check your legal name, EIN and state before you submit.
  • If the check cannot verify you automatically, the screen offers Upload documents instead.
  • Verification currently needs a US company registration. Companies outside the US can post jobs without the Verified business badge, and job seekers can see which employers are verified.
