How to report a fake job or employer on LiveRec

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

If a job on LiveRec looks fake, asks you for money, copies a real company or is misleading, report it from the job page. A person on our team reviews every report. Your report is private and the employer is not told who sent it. You must be signed in to report.

Report a job on LiveRec

  1. Open the job and choose Report job at the foot of the posting. To report a company page, choose Report employer.
  2. Choose a reason: Fake job, Asks me for money, Impersonating a company or person, Misleading or inaccurate, Discriminatory, Offensive content, Duplicate posting, Job is no longer available, or Other. Employer reports offer the reasons that apply to a company.
  3. Add detail if you can, such as what you were asked to do or pay. This is optional.
  4. Send the report. You see "Thanks, our team reviews every report." Sending it twice for the same job is harmless.

We do not promise a timeline or tell you the outcome of a report. If you were already scammed or someone is asking you for money right now, report to the authorities below as well.

Things that should make you report

  • You are asked to pay a fee, buy equipment or deposit a cheque before you start.
  • The recipient's email or chat address does not match the company's real website.
  • A recruiter moves you from LiveRec to a messaging app and asks for ID numbers or bank details before an interview.
  • The company or recruiter name belongs to a real business that says it did not post the job.

LiveRec checks companies by EIN and state registration, but no check removes every risk. Read how verification works and how to spot a fake job posting.

Where else to report

United States

  • Federal Trade Commission: reportfraud.ftc.gov
  • FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center: ic3.gov
  • Your bank or card issuer, straight away, if you paid anything.

India

  • If you lost money, call 1930 and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
  • To report a suspected fraud call, SMS or WhatsApp message that has not cost you money, use Chakshu on the Sanchar Saathi portal (sancharsaathi.gov.in). Chakshu is not for money already lost.

Security problems

To report a security vulnerability in LiveRec itself, email [email protected] with the page, the steps and what you saw. Job and employer reports go through the Report buttons above, not that address.
