How verification works on LiveRec
LiveRec verification checks companies by EIN and state registration, offers job seekers an ID check and a work-history questionnaire, and runs background checks only when an employer orders one and the candidate consents. A badge shows a check passed. It does not rate a workplace or promise an outcome.
How are employers checked?
A US company gives its legal name, 9-digit EIN and state of registration. The check confirms the business exists and is in good standing with that state's Secretary of State, using an official registry check. A pass earns the Verified business badge. If the automatic check cannot match, a team member reviews it. The Verified business badge needs a US company registration (an EIN and state, or US registration documents). Companies outside the US, for example in India, can post jobs without the badge, and job seekers can see which employers are verified.
How are job seekers checked?
- Identity verification: a photo ID and a selfie. Accepted: passport, driver's licence or national ID card. India uses an Indian ID.
- Self-verification: a questionnaire plus supporting documents confirming work history and qualifications; a person reviews it.
Employers see that a check passed, never your ID images.
What about background checks?
Run only when an employer orders one. The candidate receives an email asking for consent, and nothing runs until they consent. In the US, if an employer decides against you because of the report, they must tell you and give you a chance to respond (FCRA). See FCRA and adverse action.
How are recruiters and affiliates checked?
Live Recruiters are approved before they work; client agreements are confirmed by the client by emailed link, then reviewed by LiveRec. Affiliates complete an ID check and a tax form before payout.
What does LiveRec not verify?
- Sponsorship status is what the employer states.
- A badge is not a guarantee of hiring practices.
Spotted a fake job?
Use Report job. A person on the team reviews every report.
