How does AI job search work?

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

AI search lets you type what you want in plain English, for example a role, a place, a pay level or a visa need, and turns the sentence into job filters. It is included in the Essential and Professional plans. Basic, free and signed-out visitors get ordinary keyword matching instead.

How do I use it?

  1. Open Find jobs and type a sentence in the search box, such as the kind of role, where, and whether you need visa sponsorship.
  2. Choose AI search. If the box is empty, the cursor moves into it; AI search needs words to read.
  3. LiveRec shows an "AI search understood" panel above the results. Each filter it read appears as a chip, for example a location, a job type, remote or on-site, a pay floor, visa sponsorship or how recently the job was posted.
  4. Remove any chip you did not mean with its x. Removing a filter can only add jobs to the list.

Under the panel you can also choose Alert me to new jobs like this, which opens the job alert form pre-filled from those filters (you name and save the alert yourself), or Search by keyword instead to run the same words as a plain keyword search.

Why did it say "AI search didn't run"?

When AI search cannot run, the page still shows keyword results for your words and gives one of these reasons:

  • AI search is included with the Essential and Professional plans. Your plan does not include it.
  • You've used this month's AI searches. They reset on the 1st. There is a monthly allowance, and it resets at the start of each month.
  • We couldn't turn that into filters. Describe the role, place, pay or visa needs more directly.
  • AI search did not respond just now. Try again in a little while, or use Search by keyword instead.

Why does it say "No jobs match all of these"?

Your sentence produced several filters at once and no open job meets all of them. LiveRec offers a button such as "Remove" with the most restrictive filter named, which widens the search the most. The panel can also say which near matches it included or which related words it also searched.
