How do mock interviews work?
Mock interviews are a self-practice tool for LiveRec Professional members. You pick a practice set for a role family, read a question, answer out loud against a timer, then compare your answer with a short note on what a good answer covers and tick through a self-review checklist. There is no AI scoring and no person watching.
Where do I find them?
Open Help & support, then Interview preparation, then Mock interview practice. You can also reach it from the details of an upcoming interview, where a Practice mock interview card sits beside Interview tips. If your plan is not Professional, the page shows the set titles with an "Included in Professional" label and a See plans button instead of the questions.
What practice sets are there?
| Set | Focus |
|---|---|
| General and behavioral | Questions most interviews include, whatever the role |
| Software engineering | Technical judgment, teamwork and how you build software |
| Data and analytics | Turning data into decisions people trust |
| Product and project management | Priorities, stakeholders and delivering on time |
| Sales and customer success | Customers, targets and long-term relationships |
| Healthcare and nursing | Patient care, safety and teamwork |
Each set has 8 questions and shows an estimated time on its card. A set can carry a "Recommended for you" tag when it matches the position on your profile and resume.
How does one question work?
- Read the question and choose Start answering. You get 2 or 3 minutes; the question sets the default, and Adjust time lets you change it. The timer starts when you press Start answering.
- Say your answer out loud. Aim for a clear start, one specific example and a result.
- When time is up, or you finish, LiveRec shows What a good answer covers and a Check your answer checklist of seven prompts, for example whether you answered the question first, used a Situation, Task, Action, Result structure and ended with a result.
- Choose Try again, Next question, or Finish this set.
At the end you see how many self-review checks you ticked across the set. Your self-review is not saved, so you can practice the same set again whenever you like.
Can I record myself?
Yes, as an option. Choose Record yourself and your browser asks for microphone access. The audio stays on your device and is never uploaded, so it is gone when you leave the page. If you do not allow the microphone, recording is simply off and practice still works.
Good to know
- Mock interviews are practice only. They do not feed your profile, your applications or what employers see.
- Mock interviews are separate from a real video interview inside LiveRec. For that, see Join a video interview and Interview recording and AI.
