What happens when an offer signing link has expired?
An offer sent for e-signature has a signing link that stays valid for a set number of days, and the offer page counts them down. If the candidate does not finish in time, the link stops working, the status shows Link expired, and you send a new one. You can remind the candidate up to three times first.
Where do I see how long is left?
Open the offer and find the Signing link card. While the request is pending it shows, for example, "5 days left", the date the link expires and a bar. The card also states how many days a signing link is valid for. After that it stops working and a new one must be sent.
How do I remind the candidate?
Choose Remind candidate on the offer. You can send up to 3 reminders, at least 24 hours apart. If you try sooner, the page repeats that rule. The page shows when the next reminder is possible, and tells you when all three are used.
What do I do after it expires?
- Open the offer. A banner says "The signing link expired" and how many days it was valid.
- Choose Send a new signing link. Nobody can open the document with the old link.
- The candidate receives the new link and the countdown restarts.
If you try to send a new link before the old one has expired, the page says the link has not expired, so there is nothing to reissue.
While a link is expired, the document type is locked until a new link is sent. If the candidate already signed, the offer awaits your countersignature instead. See Offer e-signature and storage.
What does the candidate see?
An expired signing link shows the candidate "This signing link has expired. Ask the employer to send a new one." An offer that has itself expired shows "This offer has expired." and can no longer be accepted or declined. To go ahead with that candidate, send a new offer. See Send an offer.
