What if my job offer has expired?
Some offers carry a deadline, and an offer that has expired cannot be answered. Once that date passes, you can no longer accept or decline the offer in LiveRec, and a signing link stops opening. The offer is not lost. Ask the employer to send a new link or a new offer, and answer it before the new deadline.
Two different deadlines
- The offer deadline. An offer can carry an expiry date, shown on the offer when it has one. Offers without one have no deadline. After the date, Accept and Decline are refused, and the screen says "This offer has expired."
- The signing link. An offer sent for e-signature comes with a signing link that is valid for a set number of days. After that the page shows "This signing link expired" and how many days it was valid. The document cannot be opened with the old link.
Steps
- Open the offer from Messages, your notifications or your applications and read the dates shown.
- If it has expired, reply in your Messages conversation with that employer and say you still want to respond. You can message about a job you applied to; see the linked article for the rules.
- Wait for the employer to send a new signing link or a new offer. Only they can reissue it.
- When it arrives, open it, then choose Accept and sign, Decline or Make counteroffer before the new date.
Good to know
- Accepting after the deadline is not possible even if you try again; LiveRec gives the same refusal for an expired, withdrawn or already answered offer.
- If the employer withdrew the offer, the link stops working too. See the withdrawn-offer notes in the accept or decline article.
- Signed offers are kept for seven years from signing.
- If you cannot reach the employer, create a support ticket from Help & support with the job title and company name.
