How do I message an employer directly?
You can message an employer directly from Messages, but only about a job you have applied to. You may send one message before the employer replies. Once they reply, you can write back as often as you like, within a daily limit per conversation.
Steps
- Open Messages from the left rail.
- Choose New message.
- Under Which application?, pick the application you want to write about. Applications that already have a conversation are not offered.
- Type your message in the box (it says "Type a message...") and choose Send. You can attach a file.
Good to know
- The screen tells you the rule before you send: "You can send one message before the employer replies. Once they reply, there's no limit."
- Until the employer replies, the box is locked with "You'll be able to continue the conversation once the employer replies."
- After the first reply the conversation is open both ways. A daily limit applies per conversation (20 of your messages in any rolling 24 hours); if you reach it you see "You've reached the limit for this conversation for now."
- If the application is rejected or withdrawn, the conversation is read-only. The employer can still invite you to another job.
- You cannot message a company you have not applied to. Employers can also message you first; see Message employers.
