How do I create and share employer message templates?
Open Account settings, then the Templates tab, to create and manage reusable employer message templates for candidates. You can also choose New template from Templates in any message box. A template fills the message box with your wording; you edit and send it. Whether you can share one with your whole team depends on your role.
Create a template
- Open Account settings and choose Templates, or in a message box choose Templates, then New template.
- Enter a Title (up to 80 characters) and the Message (up to 2,000 characters).
- Add fill-ins with the buttons under the message: + First name inserts a placeholder that becomes the candidate's first name, + Job title becomes the job they applied for, and + Date adds a [date] blank you complete before sending.
- If you see Who can use it, choose Just me or Whole team. If the choice is not shown, your role cannot share templates, and the template is yours alone.
- Choose Save template. A confirmation shows the title and who can use it.
Use, edit or remove a template
In a candidate message box, choose Templates and pick one. It fills the box and nothing is sent until you send it. On the Templates tab each template has Edit, Duplicate and Delete. Templates shared with the team are listed under Shared with the team. See Message a candidate.
What about rejection messages?
The message a candidate receives when you reject them is set separately, on the Rejections tab of Account settings. You can edit it, save named templates and restore LiveRec's message. See Reject a candidate.
Common problems
- You cannot open the Templates tab. It needs permission to message candidates. See Roles and permissions.
- "We couldn't load your templates." Choose Try again.
- A fill-in looks like {first} or {job}. In the editor it shows as a placeholder; it fills in for each conversation when you use the template. A [date] blank is for you to complete before sending.
