What is POSH Act?

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

The POSH Act is India's Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. It requires employers to prevent harassment and to set up an Internal Committee at each workplace with ten or more employees, where complaints are heard. Districts have Local Committees for smaller workplaces and informal workers.

Example

An employee with a complaint writes to the Internal Committee, which must conduct an inquiry following the Act and its rules. Employers also run awareness sessions and display the committee's details.

Fresher interview prep often asks about it. See HR interview questions for freshers.
