Why was my payment declined?
Payment declined? Typical causes are an expired card, insufficient funds, a wrong card number or security code (CVC), or your bank declining or being unable to process it. After a decline the checkout restarts with a fresh form and one sentence giving the reason, when the payment provider recorded one. Check the details or try another card or UPI app.
Your bank can say exactly why it declined.
Steps
- Re-read the reason shown after the decline.
- Check card details and available balance.
- If your bank or UPI app asks for approval, complete it; bank pages open in the same window.
- Try again with another card or UPI app.
Good to know
- The checkout says nothing was charged for a declined payment.
- Paying from India? You'll see the price in rupees (INR) at checkout and can pay by UPI, UPI AutoPay or an Indian card. The rupee amount includes a 2–4% currency conversion fee.
