How do I take an assessment on LiveRec?

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

Take an assessment: there are two kinds of timed test. An employer can attach one to a job you applied to, and LiveRec also offers its own skill tests under Account settings, Skills & aptitude test. Both are taken in the same test screen, with a countdown, one question at a time, and answers saved as you go.

How do I start a test an employer asked for?

  1. Open the job or your application. Under Your assessment results, the section Asked for by this employer lists each required test with its state: Not taken or In progress.
  2. Choose Take test, or Continue test if you already started.
  3. Answer each question. Questions can be single choice, several choices, yes or no, a number, short answer, paragraph, date or time. Each answer saves when you give it, and the screen says Answer saved.
  4. Use the numbered dots to jump between questions, and Previous and Next to move in order.
  5. On the last question choose Submit test. You are told how many questions are unanswered; unanswered questions count as incorrect, and you cannot change answers after submitting.

How do I start a LiveRec skill test?

Open Account settings, then Skills & aptitude test. Under Skill assessments, tests that match your skills are listed first. Choose a test and confirm Start test. The timer starts at once and keeps running if you leave the page.

What happens when the timer ends or I leave?

  • The clock is kept by LiveRec's servers, not your browser. Closing the tab does not stop it.
  • If time runs out, the answers you have given are scored and the result says "Time ran out, so we scored the answers you had given."
  • If you choose Exit test on a timed test, you can return until the deadline shown; after that your answers so far are scored. On an untimed test your answers are saved and you can finish later.
  • If you started a test already, choosing Take test again takes you back into it.

What does my result show?

An employer's assessment shows PASS or NOT PASSED, a score and a percentage, plus a grid of questions marked correct, incorrect, not answered or, for paragraph and date-type questions, not auto-scored. Your result does not show the employer's own minimum, and it never shows the correct answers.

A skill test shows a rating band and a percentage instead of pass or fail, and you can open a question from the grid to review your answer.

Can I retake it?

A result is valid until the date it states, and counts for every job that asks for the same test. A retake becomes available from the date shown, for example "You can retake this test from" a given date. Before then, Take test tells you when you can try again. After a result expires, retake the test to show a current one.

Who sees my result?

Your results from LiveRec skill tests are private until you choose to show them. After a test you are asked whether to show the result to employers you apply to, with Keep private and Show to employers. You can change this later under Account settings, Skills & aptitude test, in the section Who sees your LiveRec test results.
