GST filing skills for accounts jobs in India: what to put on your CV
GST filing skills mean being able to prepare the data for a business's Goods and Services Tax returns and file them through the official GST portal. Many accounts jobs in India list it. Describe the returns you handled and the tools you used, and leave out anything you have not done yourself.

What does GST filing involve?
The GST portal links to registration, including multi-state registration, to a help topic on how to file returns, and to a returns offline tool. A login gives access to the services portal. In an accounts job, GST work usually means keeping invoices and ledgers in order so the return data is correct, then filing or checking the return. Accounting software such as TallyPrime lists GST return workflows including GSTR-1 upload, GSTR-3B, e-invoicing and e-way bill generation. The exact duties depend on the employer.
How do I show GST skills on a CV?
- Name the returns you prepared or filed, such as GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B, only if you did.
- Name the software you used. See Tally skills.
- Say what you reconciled, for example sales invoices against return data, without client figures.
- Do not claim advisory or legal work unless it was your role.
- Use exact skill words so employers can find you, as in which skills to put on a profile.
Where can I learn it?
Start with the help topics on the official GST portal, which also lists a grievance redressal link. For wider skilling, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) works under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. We could not verify a specific GST course on NSDC's site on 31 October 2026, so check its catalogue directly. For account routes, see the accountant career guide for India and bookkeeping.
