Java Developer Resume Format India: how to format it section by section

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

A Java developer resume format for India, with Python as a second language, should list your stack, the systems you built and your notice period, in a one or two page layout. Group skills by type, write bullets on features and fixes, and link to code. A fictional sample follows.

At a glance

  • Group skills: languages, frameworks, databases, tools.
  • Write bullets as built, fixed or improved, with the stack named.
  • Add a notice period line if employed.
  • Link to code you can explain.

How to format a Java or Python developer resume, section by section

Name, city and state, mobile with country code, email, and one or two links: a code repository and a professional profile.

Career objective or summary

Two lines: "Java developer with three years building REST services with Spring Boot and MySQL, learning Python for data scripts." Freshers can state projects instead of years.

Skills

Group Languages (Java, Python, SQL), Frameworks (Spring Boot, Django, Flask), Data (MySQL, PostgreSQL), Tools (Git, Maven, Docker) and Practices (testing, code review).

Experience

Bullets: "Built REST endpoints in Spring Boot for order management and added unit tests." Name team size, deployments and on-call duties if true. Avoid listing every ticket.

Education and credentials

B.Tech, MCA or equivalent with year, then certifications from named providers.

India conventions: photo, declaration, CTC and notice period

Photo is optional. No law makes you attach one, and a photo can invite bias, so add it only when an employer or walk-in notice asks for it, and then use a plain, recent passport-style image. A declaration line ("I declare the above is true to the best of my knowledge") is optional and now dated; if you keep it, keep it to one line with your name and place. Experienced developers put the notice period in the header line. CTC is normally discussed after the first round; when asked, give fixed and variable pay separately from your offer letter. See the notice period guides linked below.

Tailor the Java or Python developer resume to each posting

Read the posting and copy its exact terms into your summary, skills and bullets, but only where they describe work you have done. Put the requirement that appears first in the posting first in your skills block. If two jobs ask for different strengths, keep two versions of the Java or Python developer resume rather than one vague one.

Before you send it, copy the resume into a plain text file and read it top to bottom. Headings should be in order, dates should line up and no line should be cut off. Then ask a friend in the field to read it for ten seconds and say what the job is. If they cannot, move your strongest Java or Python developer facts higher.

Keywords recruiters scan for

Recruiters and screening software search for exact terms from the posting. These are common for a Java or Python developer resume; use only the ones that are true for you, and match the spelling the job post uses.

Java developer, Spring Boot, Python, REST API, MySQL, Git, unit testing, microservices, Maven, SQL, code review, software developer.

Common Java or Python developer resume mistakes

  1. Listing every library you have read about.
  2. Writing tasks instead of what you built.
  3. Skipping notice period on an experienced resume.
  4. Linking empty repositories.
  5. Mixing fixed and variable pay if you quote CTC.
