B.Com Fresher Resume Format: how to format it section by section

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

A B.Com fresher resume format for India should lead with your degree, accounting software and any internship or project, because you have no job history yet. Keep one page, list Tally, Excel and GST basics honestly, and add a short career objective. This guide shows each section with a fictional sample.

At a glance

  • One page, degree and marks first, then skills and internship or project.
  • Name the software you have used: Tally, Excel, GST filing basics.
  • Write a one-line objective that names the role you want.
  • Say "immediately available" instead of a notice period.

How to format a B.Com fresher resume, section by section

Name, city and state, mobile with country code, a professional email, and an optional professional profile link. Skip date of birth, father's name and religion unless the employer's form asks.

Career objective or summary

Use a one or two line objective: "B.Com graduate seeking an accounts executive role, with Tally and Excel skills and a college internship in bookkeeping." Avoid generic lines such as "seeking a challenging position".

Skills

Divide into Accounting (bookkeeping, ledgers, bank reconciliation, GST basics), Software (Tally, Excel, any ERP seen in an internship) and Communication. Include only what you could demonstrate in a practical test.

Experience

With no job, use an internship, college project or voluntary work in bullets. Example: "Entered purchase and sales vouchers in Tally during a four-week internship and prepared a monthly bank reconciliation." Keep numbers real.

Education and credentials

List degree, university, year and marks or CGPA in a small table, newest first, then Class 12 and Class 10 in one line each. Add the course name and certificate provider for Tally, GST or Excel training.

India conventions: photo, declaration, CTC and notice period

Photo is optional. No law makes you attach one, and a photo can invite bias, so add it only when an employer or walk-in notice asks for it, and then use a plain, recent passport-style image. A declaration line ("I declare the above is true to the best of my knowledge") is optional and now dated; if you keep it, keep it to one line with your name and place. Do not state expected CTC on a fresher resume; wait until the recruiter asks and use the CTC conversation in your interview.

Tailor the B.Com fresher resume to each posting

Read the posting and copy its exact terms into your summary, skills and bullets, but only where they describe work you have done. Put the requirement that appears first in the posting first in your skills block. If two jobs ask for different strengths, keep two versions of the B.Com fresher resume rather than one vague one.

Before you send it, copy the resume into a plain text file and read it top to bottom. Headings should be in order, dates should line up and no line should be cut off. Then ask a friend in the field to read it for ten seconds and say what the job is. If they cannot, move your strongest B.Com fresher facts higher.

Keywords recruiters scan for

Recruiters and screening software search for exact terms from the posting. These are common for a B.Com fresher resume; use only the ones that are true for you, and match the spelling the job post uses.

B.Com fresher, accounts executive, Tally, GST, bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, MS Excel, ledger, vouchers, accounts payable, fresher resume, campus placement.

Common B.Com fresher resume mistakes

  1. Writing three pages for a first job.
  2. Listing Tally without naming a course or practice.
  3. Stating father's name, religion or full address on the first page.
  4. Leaving marks out or showing them in an unclear order.
  5. Copying a generic objective that does not name the role.
