The mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs provided include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana.

ELMHS is looking for Correctional Guard Therapeutics who are passionate about supporting patient care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. In this unique role as a CGT(T), you will combine learned skills to help manage clients, de-escalate challenging situations, and promote safety and healing in a clinical setting.

• Six months of experience in a forensic, behavioral, correctional, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, clinical care or rehabilitation of offenders.
• NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

• Responsible for the facility's security and safety by controlling access at gate entrances and identifying employees, visitors, and patients entering/exiting the compound.
• Create a therapeutic atmosphere in interactions between clients and staff by using appropriate communication and intervention techniques.
• Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility. Must possess and maintain a valid, unencumbered driver’s license.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type:The position may be filled as a Probational Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or Current permanent status classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. Compensation:Special Entrance Rate (SER) FULL-TIME: Corrections Guard Therapeutic - $16.22/hr. Specialty Pays: Various premium pay also available for each hour worked for full-time employees.
