A delivery executive picks up and delivers parcels, food or goods to customers on time. A fair job description says whether the role is an employee or platform partner role, the vehicle and licence needed, delivery area, payment per delivery or shift, and how safety and insurance are handled.

At a glance

  • Say clearly whether this is salaried, or platform and gig work with per-order payouts.
  • State the vehicle, valid driving licence, and documents needed.
  • Describe the delivery area and typical shift.

Duties are written from the role descriptions in India's National Classification of Occupations (NCO-2015) for delivery and courier roles, and checked against the National Career Service portal. Where a National Skills Qualifications Framework qualification pack exists for the job, compare it with your duties on the National Qualifications Register.

How to customize it

  • Employee or gig: the law treats these differently. The Code on Social Security, 2020 recognises gig and platform workers. Describe the relationship honestly.
  • Safety: state helmet requirements, accident insurance, and rules on delivery time pressure.
  • Documents: ask for ID documents only for verification, and say how long you keep them.
  • Fees: never charge candidates for a bag, uniform or registration unless you disclose it in writing and it is lawful.
  • Level: delete the junior or senior wording that does not apply, and cut every requirement you would not screen for.
  • Pay: show fixed pay and variable pay separately and state what is in-hand. Enter only figures you have approved.
