Is a background check request legitimate?

LiveRec runs a background check, and sends you a request, only when an employer orders it, and only after you give consent. You receive an email asking for your consent, either from LiveRec or from our screening partner. Nothing runs until you consent, and you can get a copy of your report and respond before any decision.

Steps

1. Open the email and read the disclosure and authorization.
2. Consent only if you agree; the check starts afterwards.
3. Track the result under Notifications (Background check results).
4. To dispute, ask your screening provider for your report (the provider is named in your consent email) and reply as the process describes.

Good to know

• We do not run a check when you simply apply.
• In the US, if an employer decides against you because of the report, they must tell you and give you a chance to respond (FCRA).
