What is Verified Employer?

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

A verified employer is a company whose existence was checked against an official record before it earned a trust badge. On LiveRec, the job platform for job seekers, employers and recruiters, a US company is checked by its Employer Identification Number (EIN) and state of registration, and a pass earns the Verified business badge.

What does the check confirm?

An EIN is the 9-digit tax ID the IRS issues to a business. The state of registration is where the company was formed. The check confirms that the business exists and is in good standing with that state's Secretary of State. It is a company check, not a check of any individual recruiter or of any single job.

What does it not prove?

A badge does not proveWhy it matters
The pay or benefits are as advertisedVerification is about the company, not the posting
The person messaging you works thereImpersonation can happen off-platform
The job is a good fit or will not be cancelledHiring plans change
A background check was run on staffDifferent process

The badge needs a US company registration. Companies outside the US can post jobs without the Verified badge, and job seekers can see which employers are verified.

How to double-check any employer

  1. Search the state business registry for the legal name.
  2. Compare the recruiter's email domain with the company website.
  3. Look for the same job on the company's own careers page.
