What is offer acceptance rate?
Offer acceptance rate is a recruiting metric showing the share of job offers that candidates accept. The common formula is offers accepted divided by offers extended, multiplied by 100. Define in advance which offers count, such as formal written offers only, so the figure stays comparable over time.
Common formula
A common industry definition is: offer acceptance rate = (number of offers accepted / number of offers extended) x 100. Decide whether verbal offers, rescinded offers and counteroffers are counted, and write that rule down. Track it per role family or per recruiter only when the number of offers is large enough to be meaningful.
Reading the number
A low rate can point to pay, speed, role clarity or a competing counteroffer, but the number alone does not say which. Pair it with decline reasons collected from candidates, and with time to fill.
Example
A team extends 10 written offers in a quarter and 8 are accepted. Offer acceptance rate is 8 divided by 10, multiplied by 100, which is 80 percent.
