What is NCO (National Classification of Occupations)?

LiveRec EditorialUpdated

The National Classification of Occupations (NCO) is the Government of India's standard system for naming and coding jobs. It is published by the Directorate General of Employment under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and the edition in common use is NCO 2015. Job portals, surveys and the National Career Service use occupation codes.

Example

A job listing for an accountant can be matched to an NCO occupation code, so that skills data, training and career guidance use the same job name. Employers use it for reporting and job seekers use it to search standard titles.
