What is Inter-State Migrant Worker?
An inter-state migrant worker, under the OSH Code, is a person employed in an establishment who was recruited in one state, directly or through a contractor, for work in another state, or who came on their own and found work there, and earns up to the notified wage limit. Employers must pay a yearly journey allowance.
Example
A worker from one state is hired through a contractor to work at a factory in another state. The employer pays a lump sum once a year for the return journey to the native place, as set out in the OSH Code.
