What is Fixed-Term Employment?
Fixed-term employment is the direct engagement of an employee under a written contract for a fixed period. Under the Code on Social Security, 2020 their hours, wages, allowances and benefits cannot be lower than a permanent employee's doing similar work, and they qualify for gratuity after one year of service under the contract.
Example
A company hires an analyst for 18 months on a written contract. She receives the same pay structure as permanent analysts and is eligible for gratuity on contract expiry, because she completed more than one year.
