What is EPS (Employees' Pension Scheme)?
The Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) is one of three schemes the Code on Social Security, 2020 provides for through EPFO, alongside the Employees' Provident Fund and the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme. It is meant for superannuation, retiring or disablement pension. Pension conditions are set in the scheme itself, so check EPFO for current terms.
Example
An employee who has a UAN and PF account may also build service under EPS while employed in a covered establishment. The pension is a separate benefit from the PF balance, which is paid out as a lump sum.
Where to check
EPFO publishes the scheme rules and member services on its portals. For the larger picture, read PF and EPFO.
