Can I join an affiliate program in India and earn commission?
Not yet confirmed. LiveRec's affiliate program currently accepts affiliates in the United States and lets them earn commission in US dollars; people in India or elsewhere outside the US can leave their email for updates. Other countries join a waitlist with no promised date. This page explains the rules so you can judge it. Status as of 30 October 2026.
At a glance
- Current rule: US affiliates, USD. India: waitlist only.
- Rates: 20% of a referred seeker's first payment; 15% of a referred employer's first payment, capped at $500 per sale; 15% for a referred recruiter, capped at $500; 5% override on sub-affiliate earnings. Your Earnings page shows the rate that applies to you; the program can change rates with notice.
- Payout: bank transfer in USD, Rs-equivalent depends on the exchange rate and transfer fees; minimum $100.
- Needs an ID check and a tax form.
What would earnings look like?
Example only, using a hypothetical rate of Rs 84 per USD (not a live rate). A USD 100 seeker first payment at 20% gives USD 20.00, about Rs 1,680. Reaching the USD 100 minimum would take 5 such purchases. This is arithmetic, not a forecast.
How are payouts received in India?
Bank transfer in US dollars, with transfer fees deducted. Payouts are in US dollars only, and the payout bank form accepts only the open countries (others see the waitlist card), so INR payouts and Indian bank accounts are not supported at launch. The conversion rate and fees depend on your bank and the transfer.
What about tax?
Commission income is generally taxable. Whether and how you report it, and any GST registration question, depends on your situation. Tax deducted by the payer, if any, follows the Income Tax Department rules (https://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/documents/20117/42998/TDS-Rates_2026-01-20_02-48-40_a44c15_en.pdf/5ced020c-5670-ccab-840c-ab3eb62e8b84, checked 2026-10-30); GST registration for service income starts above Rs 20 lakh turnover in most states (CBIC FAQ, https://cbic-gst.gov.in/aces/Documents/faq-on-gst.pdf, checked 2026-10-30; confirm the current threshold). Speak to a chartered accountant. The tax form LiveRec collects is through our payout partner (W-9 or W-8BEN).
What must I disclose?
In India, the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has guidelines for influencer advertising that expect a clear disclosure of paid or material connections. ASCI requires disclosure of any material connection, upfront and prominent, with labels such as Ad, Sponsored, Partnership or Affiliate, not hidden in hashtags or a bio (https://www.ascionline.in/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/GUIDELINES-FOR-INFLUENCER-ADVERTISING-IN-DIGITAL-MEDIA.pdf, checked 2026-10-30). Copy-paste: "Ad / Affiliate link: I earn a commission if you buy through this link." Place it where it is visible, not hidden in hashtags at the end. Where your audience is also in the US, the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) apply.
What should I avoid?
Never promise a job, a visa or a guaranteed income. Do not charge job seekers to apply.
