Enter your monthly basic plus dearness allowance to see the EPF split.

How this is calculated

  1. Contribution wages = your basic pay plus dearness allowance, or Rs 25,000, whichever is lower.
  2. Your contribution = 12 percent of contribution wages, all to your EPF account.
  3. Employer contribution = 12 percent of contribution wages, split into 8.33 percent to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) and the rest, 3.67 percent, to your EPF account.
  4. Added to your EPF account = your contribution + the employer's EPF part.

Example: wages of Rs 40,000 a month are capped at Rs 25,000. You pay Rs 3,000. Your employer pays Rs 3,000, of which Rs 2,083 goes to EPS and Rs 917 to EPF. Your EPF account gets Rs 3,917 a month. Under the old Rs 15,000 ceiling, the maximum EPS amount was Rs 1,250.

Not included: interest on your balance, the EDLI insurance contribution and employer administrative charges, and any higher voluntary contribution on wages above the ceiling. Some employers contribute on full basic regardless of the ceiling, so check your payslip.
