Taxable income ₹10,65,912 after a standard deduction of ₹75,000. Tax before rebate ₹46,591, rebate ₹46,591, cess ₹0.

How this is calculated

  1. Basic = CTC × the basic percentage you enter.
  2. Employer PF = 12 percent of the PF wage base (basic, or basic capped at the EPFO wage ceiling). Your own PF is the same amount.
  3. Gratuity provision = 4.81 percent of basic (15 days over 26 working days, spread across 12 months).
  4. Gross salary = CTC minus employer PF minus gratuity provision.
  5. Taxable income = gross salary minus the standard deduction (Rs 75,000 new regime, Rs 50,000 old regime). The old regime also subtracts Section 80C (capped at Rs 1,50,000 together with your PF) and the other deductions you enter.
  6. Tax comes from the slabs, then the Section 87A rebate, then 4 percent health and education cess. In the new regime, tax just above Rs 12 lakh is limited to the income above Rs 12 lakh (marginal relief).
  7. In-hand = gross salary minus your PF, tax with cess and professional tax. The monthly figure is that total divided by 12.

Check: a Rs 12,00,000 CTC with basic at 40 percent, PF on full basic and Rs 200 a month professional tax, new regime, gives gross Rs 11,19,312, tax nil and in-hand Rs 10,59,312 a year (about Rs 88,276 a month). That matches the worked example in our CTC guide.

Not included: surcharge on taxable income above Rs 50 lakh, HRA exemption calculation, employer NPS, ESI, bonuses paid on a different schedule, and state-specific professional tax slabs. Variable pay is averaged across 12 months here, but it is often paid later, so your real monthly credit can be lower.

Assumptions and sources

  • New regime slabs: nil to Rs 4,00,000, then 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 percent in Rs 4 lakh steps, and 30 percent above Rs 24,00,000. Section 87A rebate up to Rs 60,000 if taxable income is at most Rs 12,00,000. Source: Income Tax Department, tax slabs.
  • Old regime slabs (under 60): nil to Rs 2,50,000, 5 percent to Rs 5,00,000, 20 percent to Rs 10,00,000, 30 percent above. Section 87A rebate up to Rs 12,500 if taxable income is at most Rs 5,00,000. Source: Income Tax Department, tax slabs.
  • Standard deduction for salaried people: Rs 75,000 in the new regime (Budget 2025-26). The Rs 50,000 old regime figure is the long-standing amount; confirm it on the Income Tax Department site for your return. Source: PIB, Union Budget 2025-26 highlights.
  • The Budget speech for 2026-27 announced no change to the personal slabs, and the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies from 1 April 2026. Section numbers such as 87A have new numbers. Recheck the department site before relying on figures for FY 2026-27. Source: Budget speech 2026-27.
  • EPF: 12 percent employer and 12 percent employee. The EPFO wage ceiling for mandatory coverage rose from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 a month from 17 September 2026. Many employers contribute on full basic regardless, so you can switch the wage base. Source: PIB, Cabinet approves higher EPFO wage ceiling.
  • Gratuity provision of 4.81 percent of basic comes from the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 formula (15 days of wages per year, 26 working days a month). Your employer may structure it differently. Source: Ministry of Labour and Employment.
  • Professional tax is whatever monthly amount you enter. It varies by state.

Frequently asked questions

Is in-hand salary the same as take-home?
Yes, in this calculator. It is the amount credited to your bank account each month after PF, tax and professional tax.
Why is my payslip different from this estimate?
Employers split CTC differently, deduct tax on a projected basis through the year, and may add items such as insurance premiums or meal cards. Use your offer letter breakup for the closest result.
Which regime should I pick?
Run both. The old regime can win if you claim large deductions such as home loan interest, HRA and 80C. The new regime has lower rates and fewer deductions.
Does the calculator store my numbers?
No. It runs in your browser, stores nothing and sends nothing.
Is gratuity paid every month?
No. It accrues and is paid when you leave, usually after five years of service, subject to the law.
