Overnight Data Center Lead Technician

Environment: Hyperscale Data Center

Shift: Overnight

Schedule

  • A Side: SundayTuesday
  • B Side: ThursdaySaturday

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Overnight Data Center Lead Technician to lead hands-on IT hardware operations within a large-scale data center environment. This role will support server deployment, break/fix troubleshooting, rack-level hardware, network connectivity, and liquid-cooled server infrastructure while providing technical direction to technicians during overnight operations.

The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on technician who can troubleshoot server hardware, safely work around liquid cooling systems, prioritize overnight workload, and lead a team in a fast-paced production data center.

IT Hardware & Break/Fix

  • Lead overnight technicians performing server, rack, and IT hardware deployments.
  • Diagnose and replace failed server components including DIMMs, SSDs/HDDs, CPUs, GPUs, NICs, power supplies, fans, and system boards.
  • Perform server break/fix troubleshooting using hardware diagnostics, system logs, LEDs, error codes, and established troubleshooting procedures.
  • Rack, stack, cable, and configure physical server hardware.
  • Perform hardware swaps, component replacements, and server decommissions.
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity, fiber/copper connections, NICs, transceivers, and patching.
  • Verify power, network, and cooling connectivity before returning equipment to production.
  • Maintain accurate asset, ticketing, and service documentation.

Liquid Cooling

  • Support direct-to-chip liquid-cooled server environments.
  • Connect and disconnect liquid cooling components during server installation or hardware replacement.
  • Work around Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), manifolds, hoses, quick-disconnect fittings, and server cooling loops.
  • Visually inspect liquid cooling connections for leaks, improper connections, damaged components, or other abnormalities.
  • Follow proper procedures when removing or replacing liquid-cooled servers.
  • Escalate cooling alarms, leaks, loss of flow, pressure issues, or abnormal operating conditions.
  • Coordinate IT hardware work with facilities or critical-environment personnel when cooling infrastructure issues could impact server availability.
  • Maintain strong attention to contamination prevention and proper liquid cooling handling procedures.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who can lead from the rack, not just manage from a desk. The ideal candidate can take an overnight escalation involving a failed GPU server, network connectivity issue, or liquid cooling concern, troubleshoot it methodically, direct the team, document the work, and ensure the environment is handed off cleanly to the next shift.
