US visa documents checklist for India
US federal rules as of 30 October 2026. Sources re-checked against official pages on 30 October 2026. Where a figure could not be confirmed, this page links the official source instead of stating it.
A US visa documents checklist for India matters because most delays come from missing, unclear or untranslated documents. Below is the checklist LiveRec uses. It is our own checklist, not an official government list; the form instructions and your consulate set what your case requires.
From you
- Valid passport
- Educational certificates and transcripts
- Experience letters (dates, title, duties) on company letterhead
- Medical certificate, police clearance certificate, passport photos, proof of address
From the employer
Job offer letter, company registration certificate, tax compliance certificate, business licence, sponsorship letter.
India-specific notes
- Translations: any document not in English needs a complete certified English translation (USCIS requirement).
- Police certificate: for immigrant visas the State Department's Reciprocity page tells you how to get India's. Check the India page there for the process.
- Names: make sure names match across passport, degrees and letters; explain differences.
- Medical exam: abroad, done by an embassy-approved panel physician.
Steps
- Check passport validity against your category's rule.
- Collect originals; get certified translations.
- Make clear copies.
- Upload to LiveRec as PDF or image through the job's Immigration tab only.
FAQ
Does "uploaded" mean "verified"? No; a document stays Awaiting review until checked.
Next step: H-1B from India.
