What is O-1 Visa?
The O-1 is a US nonimmigrant visa for people with extraordinary ability or achievement. The O-1A covers sciences, education, business and athletics, and the O-1B covers the arts and the motion picture and television industry. An employer or agent files a petition with USCIS and evidence of sustained acclaim is required. It has no annual lottery.
Example
A researcher with published work, awards and expert recommendations asks an employer to file an O-1A petition. Approval depends on meeting USCIS's criteria, not a quota.
