What is EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission)?
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is the US federal agency that enforces laws against job discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability and genetic information. Employees can file a charge with it. Its guidance affects how employers write job ads, interview and run background checks.
Example
A candidate believes an employer rejected them because of their national origin. They can file a charge with the EEOC, which can investigate and attempt mediation. Time limits for filing apply.
